Kristen Powell Therapy and Consulting, Glen Ellyn, IL

Welcome!

I have worked in the behavioral health field for more than 30 years and have worked at several nationally recognized treatment programs. Due to my desire to provide more personal, individualized care to women, I opened my private practice.

I use various therapeutic modalities in treatment depending on your specific needs. I specialize in grief/loss, life changes/transitions, and mothers with children in treatment.

Schedule a free consultation and let's see if we are a good fit to partner together in your healing journey.

Frequently asked questions

  • What can I expect from you as my therapist?
My promise to you is that I will walk with you in your journey of self-reflection and discovery. We will work together in exploring what brought you here and how to heal moving forward. I work outside of our sessions too so I may serve you better including attending advanced clinical trainings and gathering resources to prepare for our time together.
  • What can I expect in my first session?
During your initial visit, we will discuss practice policies, what the counseling relationship looks like, your reasons for seeking therapy, your goals, and any questions or concerns you may have. It's an opportunity for us to get to know one another and determine the best approach for your treatment and your specific needs.
  • How long will it take?
Therapy takes time and is not a “quick fix”. Everyone’s circumstances are unique to them and the length of time therapy can take to allow you to accomplish your goals depends on your desire for personal development, your commitment, and the factors that are driving you to seek therapy in the first place. Some people utilize therapy for short-term purposes, others enjoy therapy on a long-term basis and for maintenance sessions.
  • Do you accept Health Insurance?
I am an out-of-network provider; which means I do not bill insurance directly. However, I can provide you with a superbill that you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. It's important to check with your insurance provider to understand your coverage. I accept fee for service private payment only. This policy allows for individualized care by eliminating treatment constraints often imposed by managed care corporations. This results in my ability to be more effective in providing excellent care and offering comprehensive treatment. I accept payment in the form of cash, check, and all major credit cards, including your HSA or FSA cards. Payment is due at the time of the session.
  • Good Faith Estimate
Good Faith Estimates of therapy fees are provided to each client before any therapy work is agreed to and scheduled. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
  • What is your Cancellation Policy?
If you are unable to attend a session, please make sure you notify me at least 24 hours beforehand. Otherwise, a late cancellation fee of the session will be charged.
  • Any other questions?
Please contact me with any additional questions you may have. I look forward to hearing from you!
